Public Places and Street Lighting using Solar Poles in Vila Acaba Mundo in Belo Horizonte
The project aims to solve the lack of public lighting in different places of the city, reducing the sense of insecurity of passers-by and the abandonment of sites using solar energy poles. It is intended to bring more comfort and safety to the populations of needy areas through clean, sustainable and economic technology. The place where the first edition is being held is Vila Acaba Mundo, one of the oldest communities in BH where lives more than two thousand people. The poles will be deployed in the street named "Monte Azul", where many people need to walk every night without any spot of public lighting for tens of meters. While the prototype of the photovoltaic pole is being developed and tested, community engagement actions were carried out in order to bring the local residents closer to the organization's objectives. Activities included environmental education, cultural and recreational actions, physical interventions and conversation. The basic idea is that it can be replicated, and be expanded to other locations, and the work in the Village is continuous, positively impacting more and more people.
